Duan shaped his profession via Shanghai, Melbourne, and Porto, now a Shanghai-based graphic designer, art director, and conceptual thinker who is working with different time zones. His focus is on bilingual graphic design, visual identity system for brands and events, bilingual type and typography design, art direction, curating and exhibition design, and various cultural projects and research.

In 2020, before the outbreak of Covid-19, he co-founded studio Pocca which practices in design, strategy, and research, now a well-known emerging studio in China that is capable of both business & brand strategy and visual communication design with an international perspective.

His works have been featured in professional publications from globally renowned art publishers such as Gestalten, Niggli, Victionary, Sandu, and magazines such as Eye, and Print. He has been also exclusively interviewed by Design360°, The–Brand Identity, Arphic Type Design Dialogue, and Hiiibrand Award.

He was invited as one of the guest speakers at the Red Dot Design Award Exhibition in Shanghai, Energizing the Future EXPO 2017 Astana Exhibition, and UNFOLD 2020 Shanghai Art Book Fair, and was nominated for the 2021 Australia China Alumni Award for Arts & Creative Industries.
